Gurbetchii gardening is a little-known craft, with which the Bulgarians became famous throughout Europe in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Although almost forgotten today, a century ago Bulgarian gardeners with their hard work and courage peacefully conquered territories all over the world with their admirable gardens. The unique way in which the Bulgarian garden was organized was complemented by the construction of greenhouses for seedlings, which ensured the early production of vegetables. The first gardeners to look beyond the borders of the Ottoman Empire headed for Brasov, Romania, at the beginning of the 19th century and opened the way to the Habsburg Empire and Europe. In the 20th century, Bulgarian gardeners reached the USA, South America and Australia.
