The beech forests of the Troyan Balkan determined the development of the other main economic branch of the Troyan crafts - woodworking. Woodworking (handicraft) - carving of household and farm products, and lumbering shape the character of woodworking. The woodworking crafts had a wide commercial range - lathe and gorin products had well-established markets throughout the Danube Plain, and turning products: gavanki, parali, khurki, salt cellars, talars, flasks - all household goods, found their markets throughout the Ottoman Empire. The carvings of the Troyan masters and the iconostases they made in the Troyan Monastery and in the numerous villages of Northern Bulgaria, with their exquisite lines and original biblical and domestic compositions, remain monuments of the art of carving to this day.
