Monument to Pope John Paul II

The monument to Pope John Paul II was inaugurated on November 15, 2014, and the town is the birthplace of the Catholic priest Eugene Bosilkov - one of the four Bulgarian martyrs declared blessed by the Pope during his visit to Bulgaria in 2001. The monument commemorates the outstanding role of St. Pope John Paul II in the struggle of millions of Eastern Europeans for freedom and dignity.
