After the liberation of Bulgaria, the grateful new villagers decided to erect a temple-monument in honor of those who fell for freedom in this region during the April Uprising. In 1896 the first sod was laid and the foundation stone of the temple was laid, but due to lack of funds the construction lasted 10 years. The temple-monument "St. Georgi Pobedonosets" was consecrated in 1904 by Bishop Maxim of Plovdiv. A major renovation and new painting of the temple was carried out in 1976 in connection with the 100th anniversary of the April Uprising in Novo Selo.
