Slavcho Zmiyarov was born in 1952 in the town of Samokov and is the only continuator of the ancient knife art. He is a self-taught craftsman, but has mastered to perfection the techniques of the ancient art of knifemaking, and is currently the chairman of the knifemaking examination committee at the "National Craftsmen's Chamber". He has participated in various exhibitions not only in Bulgaria but also abroad - Germany, Belgium, France. He makes the exhibits entirely by hand using ancient technologies in single pieces according to his own model, they are intended for collectors and connoisseurs of knife art. The exhibits are distinguished in precision workmanship and functionality. The craftsman makes over 40 models of antique, hunting, tourist and folding knives. The materials he uses are: stainless steel (cutlery), silver, bone, horn, leather, wood. In 2012, he was nominated as the best master knifemaker by the Arts and Crafts Protective Association. He also does wood carving and animal taxidermy.
