Christian Church “Rozhdestvo na Blazhenata Deva Mariya”

The Christian Church “Rozhdestvo na Blazhenata Deva Mariya” is located in the town of Belene and is part of the Nikopol Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, which is a parish church. The first historical evidence of the existence of a church in Belene was found in a report by Bishop Peter Solinat from 1622. In the period 2020-2021, the church building was renovated by two architects - the facades of the church were completely restored, and the once existing plaster ornaments and capitals were restored in granite and marble. The bell tower, which was reinforced over the years, has been restored to its original appearance and artistic lighting has been added to highlight the decorative elements on the facades and bell tower. New elements have been introduced in its interior, the presbytery has been completely changed, preserving the old altar. In December 2021, in the competition "Building of the Year Bulgaria 2021", the renovated church building received a special award in the category "Social Infrastructure and Special Purpose Buildings".
