Dimitar Hristov Zograf (1796-1860) was one of the most prominent representatives of the Samokov school of icon painting. He was married to Hristiania Chorbadzhi Koatovich, famous for her portrait by Zachary Zograf, which is now in the National Art Gallery. Dimitar Zograf's heirs bear the surnames Zografski-Dospevski and Samokliev. In the courtyard of the house, the studio of the zographers of this family has been restored, and as is known, during the winter season they made in Samokov the whole iconostasis sets commissioned by them, as well as icons for the market. It is also known that they had a shop selling icons in Thessaloniki.
The Dospevska house was restored in the 1980s. It is located on the tourist promenade - Main Street, where the wealthiest old families used to live. Since 2008 the house is a cultural monument of "national importance".
