The protected zone “Cave Mandrata” is protected under the Habitats Directive, has a total area of 1.82 ha, was designated in 2021 and has 4 designation objectives:
To conserve and maintain natural habitat types, species habitats, their populations and distribution within the area to achieve and maintain favourable conservation status;
To improve the population status of the Mediterranean horseshoe crab;
Enhance the habitats of the species sharp-eared noctule and long-winged bat;
Where necessary, improve the condition or restore the habitat type and habitat of species and their populations.
In accordance with Article 6 (1) and (2) of the Biodiversity Act, the following are protected in the protected area: undeveloped caves and a variety of bat fauna.
