Protected zone "Belenska Forest" - BG0000231

"Belenska Forest" protected zone falls within the territory of the municipality of Strazhitsa, village of Vinograd, it was declared under the Habitats Directive in 2020, has a total area of 5 041,7 ha and has 3 designation objectives:

• Protection and maintenance of habitat types and species habitats, their populations and distribution within the area to maintain a favourable conservation status in the Continental biogeographical region;
• Enhance the structure and function of natural habitats coded 6210 (*important orchid habitat), 9180*, 91G0*, 91H0*, 91I0*, 91M0 and 91Z0;
• Improvement or restoration of natural habitat types and habitats of species and their populations, where necessary.
