Celebration of the town of Samokov

Since 2002 the town of Samokov celebrates its town holiday on August 21 - Assumption of St. Simeon of Samokov, patron saint of the town. The feast begins with a Holy Mass, which is celebrated in the Church of the “Nativity of the Mother of God”of the town. Many cultural events, concerts, competitions, festivals are organized within one week on the occasion of the feast of Samokov - the festival of the tourist song "The White Gate of Rila", the traditional gathering of the Karakachans, the dance competitions with the participation of the dance groups of the community centers in the municipality of Samokov and visiting folklore groups, and the contest "Mini Miss and Mini Mister".
