Protected zone “Velchevo”

Protected zone “Velchevo” is designated under the Birds Directive, it falls within the territory of three municipalities, it was declared in 2008 and has two purposes of designation:

• Conservation and maintenance of the habitats of the bird species mentioned in point 2 in order to achieve their favourable conservation status;
• Restoration of habitats of bird species referred to in point 2 for which an improvement of their conservation status is necessary.

In accordance with Article 6 (3) of the Biodiversity Act, the protected area protects: meadow pipit, grey woodpecker, middle-spotted woodpecker and red-backed magpie
