Description
Protected zone “Central Balkan - buffer” is protected under both directives - for birds and habitats, but is divided into two zones - the one for habitats was declared in 2021, has a total area of 138 416,39 ha and covers 17 municipalities, and the one for birds was declared in 2013, has a total area of 72 021,4 ha and covers 14 municipalities. Both areas protect numerous plant and animal species and habitats that are also protected in the Protected zone "Central Balkan".
