Protected zone “Apriltsi”

The protected zone “Apriltsi” is protected under the Birds Directive, has a total area of 1 935,27 ha and was declared in 2008. The protected area has two purposes of designation:

• Conservation and maintenance of the habitats of the bird species to achieve their favourable conservation status;
• To restore habitats of bird species for which conservation status needs to be improved.

In accordance with Article 6 (3) of the Biodiversity Act, the following birds are protected: meadow pipit, middle spotted woodpecker, red-backed magpie, woodlark.
