The present building of the church "St. Nicholas" is the third church built on this site. The first one for which there are records was located in the yard of the present one and was built in 1808. The church destroyed by the earthquake had an inscription above the main door on the south side, "This church, St. Nicholas raised up by the inhabitants of the county is the Lord's summer 1808". By 1823 the church had two vicarages and there was a school attached to it. This church was pulled down by the inhabitants because it was small, and a new church was built in its place after the Crimean War in 1856. In 1844 a school was built in the church yard, on the site of which the first building of the community center "Progress" was later built. On the south side of this courtyard stood the town clock, the tower of which was built in 1866. In 1875 a spiritual congregation was formed at the church, and all business, civil and spiritual, was transacted there. The church of „St. Nicholas“ is considered to be the congregational church in Lyaskovets. The earthquake in 1913 destroyed the church, but it was rebuilt with the help of citizens in 1932-1936 and consecrated in 1937.
