"St. Petka is a late medieval Bulgarian church in the village of Belchin, Samokov municipality. The church was built in its last form in the 17th century on the foundations of an older church from the 13th-14th centuries. In 2007, the original icons, which had been kept elsewhere until then, were brought to the church, and later that year the restored church was consecrated by Bishop John of Znepol, Vicar of Sofia. The first complete restoration of the church was in 1967. In 2006, a complete restoration of the church began, during which its original form was preserved as much as possible. The medieval Church of “St. Petka” is a national monument of artistic culture, category I, and for many centuries it has grown into the bosom of the hill of St. Peter. It has been standing above the village of Belchin for centuries.
