The "St. George" Church in the village of Kamen was built in 1809 after the Sultan's ferman and according to the then Ottoman regulations it was partially dug into the ground. In 1857, the temple building was burnt to the ground and with it all the books and documents. The temple was rebuilt on the old stone foundations, being extended and raised to a greater height. In 1905, the wealthy horticultural community of the village raised funds and renovated the temple.
