Todorovden

Every year on Todorovden in the area "Marinska" traditional horse races are held associated with the holiday. The organizers of the holiday are the municipality of Apriltsi and the Tourist Bureau of Apriltsi, and the hunting farms of Apriltsi, Lagut and Iskar participate in the races. The races are organized in two groups: local horses and thoroughbred horses. There are also prizes for the youngest and the oldest participant, a special prize for the participation of women, for the most stylishly dressed and attractive jockey and for the most headstrong and untamed horse. According to the legend, on the Easter of the Horse, St. Todor puts on nine coats, rides his horse and goes to God to ask him to send summer. On this day the brides boil wheat, corn, hail and okra, which they sprinkle around the gardens to keep the moles from nibbling on what they have sown.
