"St. Nicholas" is a skete located about a kilometer from the Troyan monastery itself, on the western slope of peak Ivan partition in the Troyan Mountains, part of the Middle Stara Planina and a kilometer from the village of Cherni Osam. The site was founded in 1785 by the abbot of the Troyan Monastery, Paisii, and was reopened in its present form in 1812. In the period 1794-1869 it housed the school of the Troyan monastery, and the sanctuary is a complex of a church, residential buildings and a spring with healing water. The church was built in 1812 and the new residential buildings were built between 1950-1960 by Archimandrite Joseph Minkov. The sanctuary has a remarkable finely carved iconostasis, the work of masters from the Samokov carving school. The skete is declared a monument of culture, but it is currently not in good condition and is to be completely reconstructed.
