Early Neolithic settlement in the Smardesh locality

The Early Neolithic settlement in the Smardesh locality is presumptively dated to 6100-5900 BC, considered part of the so-called Koprivets cultural group. Materials found there resemble those from Early Neolithic sites from the Aegean region, parts of Fakir Tepe and others from the region of western Anatolia. The first excavations began in 2001.
