Enyovden is an old Bulgarian holiday celebrated on June 24 every year and it is believed that the root of the holiday lies in the Thracian tradition. On the same date, the Eastern Orthodox Church celebrates the day of St. John the Baptist and often the rites and traditions of the two feasts are intertwined. The feast coincides with the summer solstice and therefore many of the customs are tied to the path of the sun and the cult of it. According to folk beliefs, from this day the length of the day begins to decrease and the year tends towards winter. It is believed that on Enyovden various herbs and grasses have the greatest healing power, especially at sunrise. There is also a belief that on Midsummer's Eve, a blue flame comes out of the ground where there is buried possession.
Annually in the village of Balkanets, in the locality of "Aydushko gathering" the holiday is celebrated with a concert, performances of folk dance formations and various competitions. The main organizer is the Association "Council of Tourism" - Troyan with the financial support of the Municipality of Troyan. The main message that the organizers send to the guests of the celebration is to try to change together towards a better care towards nature.
