Remnants of the Anasamus Fortress

Late antique and medieval fortress "Anasamus" is located 3.76 km west as the crow flies from the town of Nikopol. It is built on a hill, which is located on the right bank of the river Osam, on the northwestern edge of the Nikopol hill. The hill has steep and precipitous slopes to the east and west and steep slopes to the north and south. The Late Antique fortress is situated on an area of 20 dka, was used during the Second Bulgarian State, and its eastern part still preserves walls up to 2 m high and numerous main buildings.
