National Theatre Festival "Theatres without Borders" - Samokov

In the last week of October the National Festival of Amateur Theatres "Theatres without Borders" takes place. The festival is a competition and its organizer is the community center -memorial "Otets Paisii - 1859". This event strengthens the cultural traditions in the town and gives an opportunity for amateur theatres to perform while promoting Bulgarian and foreign drama.

The main idea of the theatre festival is to introduce the Bulgarian audience to the variety of theatrical forms and genres, as well as to bring together on one stage the lovers of this art. The event has a competitive character, and participants can be theatre companies, community theatres with theatrical performances without genre limitation (drama, comedy, etc.). The maximum duration of the performance is 90 minutes and professional actors are definitely not allowed.

A jury of professionals in the field awards the best in the following categories:

• Best Performance;
• Best Actor and Best Actress;
• Best Overall Performance;
• Award for Set Design;
• Directing Award;
• Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
