National Festival of "Old Town Song" - Samokov

The National Festival of "Old Town Song" brings together fans of the melodic, wonderful lyrics and magic of old town songs. For another year, Samokov hosts the lovers of the song, bringing together ensembles and individual performers from all over the country on one stage / the festival is open to non-professional groups for old urban songs, including chamber ensembles from all over Bulgaria. The festival has a competitive character and a jury evaluates the musical and artistic qualities of the songs, whether the performances are in the specified style, the arrangement, the accompaniment and the artistic presentation of the performances.

The festival is hosted by the town of Samokov and the “Otets Paisii - 1859” community centre. The celebration revives the charm of the Bulgarian old town song - a real gem in the cultural heritage and aims to promote and preserve the best of this beloved genre and to introduce young people to its lyrics and charm.
