Monument "600 Years of the Battle of Nikopol"

Almost in the centre of the town is the Monument to the Crusaders who passed through the town in the 12th century. The artistic monument "600 Years of the Battle of Nikopol" is dedicated solely to the European nations, and the so called "Battle of the Nations" took place in 1396 and was between the Turkish and the Knights' armies led by King Sigismund of Luxembourg of Hungary. Annually, grateful citizens lay flowers at the Crusader monument in the city. The monument was unveiled in 1996 to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the legendary battle between the knights of Hungary, France, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and England.
