Art Gallery "prof. Vasil Zahariev"

The Art Gallery in Samokov is named after the prominent Samokov artist and researcher of the cultural heritage of Samokov - Professor Vasil Zahariev. In 2015 it was celebrated the 120th anniversary of the birth of Professor Vasil Zahariev Stoyanov, born in Samokov in 1895. The Historical Museum of Samokov is the successor of his work by virtue of a decision of the Committee for Culture from 1979. A specially designated collection preserves his works—projects, drawings, watercolors, oil paintings, and graphic prints of his entire oeuvre, with several copies of each. In 1995 a catalogue of over 230 titles was published with an anniversary exhibition, which was held in Botevgrad and Leipzig, Germany.
