Construction of the church began in 1877 on the initiative of the local Christian population and was completed in 1880 and consecrated. In 2013, the church suffered a major earthquake, and although the church suffered several major cracks, worship continued in the church, and in 1924 the population raised funds and repaired the church. Later, the church was declared an architectural and structural monument of local importance and an architectural and artistic monument of national importance.
