The festival "Banat Tastes - the traditions of my village" came as an idea after visiting a similar festival in the Hungarian village of Kozard. After Platform AGORA announced a competition for grants to hold festivals, the village of Asenovo presented this idea and was subsequently supported with funding from the America for Bulgaria Foundation. The festival has a competitive focus, with prizes awarded for: Most Delicious Dish, Most Authentic Dish, Culinary Inspiration, Prepare Banat Delights, Master of Banat Dish, The Best Chef , Most Attractive Stand, Youngest Participant and a "Who Ate the Carrots" competition.
International Culinary-Folklore Festival "Banat delicacies - the traditions of my village" is organized annually by the community centre "Peter Parcevich 1927" and Nikopol municipality. The purpose of the festival is to promote and preserve the culinary traditions of the various settlements and ethnicities, presented in culinary exhibitions and live demonstrations, as well as the presentation of local folklore through folk costumes and folk performances.
The aim of the festival is to preserve, conserve, promote traditional foods and crafts and their place in our lives. Showcasing the diversity of traditional foods and opportunities for showcasing through participation of people from local communities, the region, the country and abroad.
On the occasion of the festival, an outdoor demonstration of the preparation of local traditional Banat food is organized, and the participants have the opportunity to both take part in the demonstration and make a tasting. A children's workshop for preparing delicious local foods has been organized, as well as exhibitions-bazaars "Banat delicacies", "Traditional foods of my village" and "Culinary inspiration".
