To the left of the very centre of Zla Reka is another fountain dedicated to another rebel from April 1876 - Marin Syarov, and the square is named after him. Marin Syarov was a secret courier of the Novosel Uprising. Marangosia – a carver's style stick had a hole in which he hid the letters he delivered. His mother was also a victim - she was cut down from behind when she was questioned about where her son was hiding. After they caught him, they were supposed to hang him in Sevlievo, but a telegram came to stop the gallows and his sentence was turned to life imprisonment. He spent 15 years on the island of Cyprus, and after the Liberation he returned to his native village.
