The Alinski Monastery is situated on the left bank of the Monastery River, below Mount Kaleto, amidst the forested southern slopes of the Plana Mountain. It is 20 km west of the town of Samokov, next to the village of Alino and the village of Belchinski bani, and in the immediate vicinity is the medieval fortress of Alinsko Kale. The Alinski monastery originated in the 16th-17th centuries and was rebuilt in the 18th-19th centuries. During the years of the early Bulgarian Revival, it was a literary centre of local importance. Currently the monastery is inactive and declared a monument of culture.
